Strong, Durable Cab
The Cargo's cab is a
model of engineering innovation: Fully-welded steel construction.
Galvanized, corrosion-resistant steel in critical locations. E-coat
submersion priming and cavity wax application for added corrosion
resistance. The contemporary appearance is enhanced by a sloped
windshield, concealed drip rails, integral air deflectors, flush door
handles. And it all rides on shock- absorbing cab mounts.
|
 |
Spacious, Comfortable
Cab
The Cargo cab is as
impressive inside as it is outside. Wide shoulder and hip room
provides up to three-person comfort. Interior appointments are crisp
and stylish, with padded dash, dual padded sunvisors, styled door
panels with integral arm rests and convenient storage pockets. A
7-inch adjustable driver's seat can accommodate any size driver, as
does the soft-grip 2-spoke steering wheel.
|
 |
Low-Cab-Forward and
Excellent Visibility
One look and it's obvious
the Cargo is designed to tame the rigors of the urban landscape.
Low-cab- forward design, set-back front axle (53-inches) and power
steering add up to a tight turning radius and easy maneuvering. City
driving is also aided by a broad windshield and plenty of glass --
34-sq.ft. total, including low profile door windows -- that offer an
expansive 290-degree field of vision.
|
Rock-Solid Durable
Chassis
The Cargo is built on the
proven Business Class chassis. Heavy-duty frame rails are made from
high-tensile steel, with additional strengthening options available. The
frame uses extra-high tensile fasteners rated to 110,000 psi. HUCKBOLT™
fasteners are also available for even more strength. All electrical
connections are crimped and soldered with weather-proof connectors. And
Constant-Torque¨ spring clamps eliminate leakage in coolant hoses.
|
Advanced Powertrain
Performance
Behind the grille beats a
potent 24-valve Cummins ISB turbocharged diesel engine (rated from 175
to 230 horsepower), capable of supplying abundant power for most
applications. Manual transmission choices include wide-ratio or
close-ratio, in 5-, 6-, or 9-speeds or Allison automatics with both
hydraulic or electronic controls. Single- and dual-drive axles can meet
GVW requirements from 25,500 to 52,000 pounds.

The Freightliner Business
Class Cargo. A Breakthrough In Low-Cab-Forward Design.
The new Cargo is the latest
member of Freightliner's line-up of versatile, productive Business Class
trucks. With its low-cab-forward design, compact overall length,
set-back front axle and standard power steering, the Cargo is the
ultimate street-wise, city-smart truck.
No matter if your business operation requires a long body on a shorter
compact wheelbase or a tight-turning circle, the Cargo delivers high
performance. Performance measured in driver comfort, fuel economy,
drivetrain options, maneuverability, payload, and durability. From its
unique tilt cab -- offering easy access to the engine -- to flexibility
in chassis and powertrain options, the Cargo is engineered to deliver
black ink to your company's bottom line.
And like all Freightliner trucks, the Cargo is the product of the same
type of world-class engineering and customer support that has propelled
the Freightliner nameplate to number one. No other truck builder shows
the commitment and desire to minimize customer risks and maximize
customer competitiveness.
The new Cargo is the embodiment of this philosophy: a tough, durable,
proven inner-city hauler capable of answering most demands customers ask
of it.

The Cargo Cab. Home to
Comfort and Control.
Simply put, the Cargo cab is
a haven from the gritty, noisy world of the city -- a work place as
comfortable and efficient as many offices. Here's why:
A 73-inch wide cab and comfortable seating easily fits a crew of up to
three. The cab's "interior design" is airy, uncluttered, and stylishly
trimmed... yet supremely functional. Little touches like the
soft-textured steering wheel, sculptured door panels, optional sound
systems, and cup holders accentuate the cab's user-friendly feel.
Cab climate is fine-tuned with a first-rate ventilation system,
orchestrated by dash and footwell vents. You can maximize cab
ventilation with the optional adjustable roof vent. Plus, a powerful
heater/defrost and optional AC unit can turn back unwanted climatic
gremlins, from a searing summer sun to a bone chilling winter freeze.
The Cargo has an ergonomically correct dashboard. All instruments are
arranged for a quick read, with glare-resistant glass and are easily
viewed through the 2-spoke steering wheel. Rocker switches and warning
lights are perfectly placed, and the center panel has ample blank spaces
for accessory switches.
Your drivers will appreciate the many other features of the Cargo cab
environment -- all designed to promote productivity, and safe and
confident operation.
